In 2021, they suffered a defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore by two wickets in Chennai. In 2020, they lost to Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in Abu Dhabi.
The losing streak extends further back to 2019 when they were defeated by Delhi Capitals by 37 runs at Wankhede. In 2018, they lost by one wicket to Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede. The trend continued in 2017 with a seven-wicket loss to Rising Pune Supergiant in Pune. In 2016, they lost by nine wickets to Rising Pune Supergiants at Wankhede. In 2015, they were defeated by Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets at Eden Gardens. The streak of losses began in 2014 with a 41-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi. In 2013, they lost by two runs to Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru.
Despite these setbacks, Mumbai Indians will be looking to bounce back and turn their fortunes around in the upcoming matches of the season.
