Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni took responsibility for his team’s narrow two-run loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in an intense IPL 2025 clash. Despite being in a strong position at 172/2 while chasing 214, CSK fell short in the final over. Dhoni admitted that he should have converted a couple more shots and took the blame for the defeat.
Youngster Ayush Mhatre impressed with a brilliant 94, supported by an unbeaten 77 from Ravindra Jadeja. However, RCB’s Romario Shephard stole the show with a brutal onslaught, scoring 53 off just 14 balls, including 4 fours and 6 sixes, pushing RCB to 213/5. Dhoni praised Shephard’s performance in the death overs.
Dhoni also emphasized the need for his bowlers to improve their execution of yorkers, especially Pathirana and others at the death. RCB’s victory has propelled them to the top of the IPL 2025 points table, while CSK’s playoff hopes are fading as they sit at the bottom with only 4 points from 11 matches.
Speculation is growing about Dhoni’s future plans, especially with CSK struggling at the bottom of the table. The question remains: was this the last time MS Dhoni wore the yellow jersey?
