Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had been dominating seasoned bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood this season, leading experts to call for his inclusion in the Indian team after IPL 2026. However, his unbeaten streak came to an end when Mohsin Khan of Lucknow Super Giants trapped him in a tactical web, eventually dismissing him for just 8 runs. Mohsin bowled a maiden over to Sooryavanshi, employing hard lengths and subtle variations to restrict his stroke-making abilities. The pressure built up with a series of dot balls until Sooryavanshi fell into the trap and skied a catch to cover. This was the first time in the season that Sooryavanshi’s strike rate fell below 100. Despite his early dismissal, he made history by becoming the fastest to reach 500 runs in IPL history in just 227 balls. Mohammad Shami had earlier set the tone for the match by taking two quick wickets for Lucknow Super Giants.
