Sanjay Manjrekar didn’t hold back in his critique of KL Rahul’s batting approach after Delhi Capitals’ loss to Chennai Super Kings. Rahul’s slow start, scoring 12 off 12 balls before getting out, was deemed as signing the “death warrant” for his team by Manjrekar. Despite being in good form throughout the season, Rahul’s underwhelming performance in this match was highlighted.
Manjrekar pointed out that in a game where openers are expected to score quickly, Rahul’s slow start put pressure on the rest of the team. He emphasized the importance of a strong start in T20 cricket and criticized Rahul’s approach in this particular game.
In addition to Rahul’s struggles, his teammates also failed to perform well, with Pathum Nissanka and skipper Axar Patel falling short in their contributions. Axar Patel acknowledged that they fell short by 10-15 runs in their total score of 155.
Overall, Manjrekar’s analysis pointed towards the need for a more aggressive approach from Rahul and the Delhi Capitals team as a whole in order to improve their performances in future matches.
