Lucknow Super Giants faced their third consecutive home defeat in the IPL, their fifth loss overall this season, as they were beaten by Rajasthan Royals by 40 runs. Despite restricting RR to 159/6, LSG struggled in their chase and were bundled out for 119 in 17.5 overs. Jofra Archer was a standout performer for RR with figures of 3/20, while other pacers also made life difficult for LSG’s batters. Mitchell Marsh was the lone bright spot for LSG, scoring a maiden half-century of the season. RR’s bowlers were relentless and backed up by sharp fielding to secure a dominant away win.
RR had a shaky start after being asked to bat, with Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan causing early trouble. Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial unbeaten innings of 43 off 29 balls, while Shubham Dubey provided a late flourish with 19 not out off 11 balls. RR finished on 159/6, a total that proved to be enough as LSG’s inconsistent batting let them down. Despite a disciplined bowling effort, LSG failed to chase down the target, succumbing to another defeat at home.
