Officials from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) met with the State government’s expert committee to discuss the security enhancements being made at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in preparation for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. The State government has approved the conduct of IPL matches at the stadium after months of uncertainty following a stampede on June 4, 2025.

The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, are set to face off against the former champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad, in the opening match of IPL 2026 on March 28. The KSCA spokesperson, Vinay Mruthyunjaya, confirmed that the expert committee held a meeting with officials from KSCA and RCB to discuss the preparations for the upcoming matches.

In addition to the inaugural match, the RCB Unbox function and the opening ceremony will also take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The KSCA presented detailed information on the infrastructural upgrades and safety measures being implemented at the stadium in accordance with the expert committee’s recommendations.

RCB will play five home matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium and two matches in Raipur during this season. Representatives from RCB and their operational agencies also shared their plans for ensuring the smooth and orderly conduct of the matches. All stakeholders expressed their commitment to ensuring the matches are conducted safely and seamlessly.
