KL Rahul achieved a remarkable milestone in the IPL by becoming the fastest batter to reach 5000 runs in the tournament’s history. He played a composed knock of 57 runs off 42 balls to lead Delhi Capitals to an eight-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants. Rahul, along with Abishek Porel, guided Delhi to victory with a solid partnership after an early wicket fall. The win was sealed with an unbeaten 56-run partnership with Axar Patel.

Rahul’s achievement was celebrated in the dressing room, where he signalled at Kevin Pietersen, with whom he has been engaging in light-hearted banter throughout the IPL season. The ongoing banter started when Rahul reminded Pietersen of a past tweet criticizing his slow innings and continued with jokes about Pietersen’s trip to Maldives during the season.

Delhi Capitals’ bowlers, led by Mukesh Kumar’s four wickets, restricted Lucknow Super Giants to 159/6. The win took Delhi to the top two in the points table with six victories from eight matches. They will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their next match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
