Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending champion, recently released its retro kit from the first edition of the Indian Premier League. The black-and-gold jersey, originally made by Reebok, was a fan favorite before the team switched to purple and gold in 2010. Despite being priced at ₹1,499, all sizes of the jersey sold out in less than 10 minutes from the official store, sparking rumors of a restock due to high demand.
Currently, only the kids’ version of the jersey is still available for purchase. Fans have been urging the franchise to re-release the 2008 edition jersey for several seasons, and the anticipation grew stronger when social media posts featuring players in the old kit went viral. The jersey is expected to feature the golden IPL crest, exclusive to title holders this season.
The much-awaited kit was finally unveiled during the Knights Unplugged 2.0 event, marking the end of the team’s trophy tour. If the jersey does make a comeback, it will be available for purchase on the Knight Club app, KKR’s official website, or Fancode. Overall, the release of the retro kit has generated excitement among fans, with many eagerly waiting for the opportunity to own a piece of the team’s history.
