Shah Rukh Khan made his first appearance at a Kolkata Knight Riders match of the season, with fans turning out to support the struggling team. However, the much-anticipated Indian Premier League 2026 fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings was ultimately washed out due to heavy rain and strong winds.

Despite the forecast for rain, KKR chose to bat first and was at 25 for two in 3.4 overs when the showers arrived, forcing play to be halted just 17 minutes into the game at Eden Gardens. Missing key players Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine due to injuries, KKR added Rovman Powell and Navdeep Saini to strengthen the batting lineup.

Finn Allen and Cameron Green both fell early to Xavier Bartlett’s bowling, leaving Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi to try and rebuild the innings before the rain intervened. Despite initial efforts to resume play, the rain and wind intensified, leading to the match being called off by match referee Javagal Srinath at 11:00PM IST.

This washout marked the second consecutive year that a match between KKR and Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens ended without a result, with both teams receiving a point each. The unpredictable April weather once again had the final say in the outcome of the match.
