Kolkata Knight Riders will enter IPL 2026 without replacing injured fast bowlers Harshit Rana and Matheesha Pathirana, as reported by Cricbuzz. Rana, who sustained a knee injury ruling him out of the season after being a key player in KKR’s pace attack, won’t be replaced as the franchise believes they have enough Indian pace options in Vaibhav Arora, Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi, and Akash Deep. Finding a suitable replacement with Rana’s skill set and IPL experience is challenging. Pathirana, also sidelined due to injury, may join the squad later in the season, prompting KKR to refrain from signing a temporary overseas player. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Pathirana and recent controversy over Blessing Muzarabani’s signing, KKR remains committed to trusting their current squad and waiting for the return of their injured players. With the IPL starting on March 28 and KKR’s first game against Mumbai Indians on March 29, the franchise is opting for patience over last-minute solutions.
