In the IPL Auction 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made a bold move by spending a massive Rs 23.75 crore to secure Venkatesh Iyer, whose base price was just Rs 2 crore. The team also acquired wicketkeeper-batters Quinton de Kock for Rs 3.6 crore and Rahmanullah Gurbaz for Rs 2 crore. The bidding for Iyer was intense, with KKR competing against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), ultimately making Iyer the fourth-most expensive player in IPL history.

In addition to Iyer, KKR added Anrich Nortje for Rs 6.5 crore and Angkrish Raghuvanshi for Rs 3 crore to their squad. Other players acquired by KKR include Rovman Powell, Manish Pandey, Spencer Johnson, and Anukul Roy.
