After the conclusion of IPL 2025, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has made it mandatory for Mumbai-based cricketers, not part of the national team, to participate in the upcoming T20 Mumbai league. Players like Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Prithvi Shaw, and Shardul Thakur have been informed about this directive and have shown willingness to be part of the league. They have been promised a participation fee of INR 15 lakhs in addition to their auction fees. The T20 Mumbai league is scheduled to take place from May 26 to June 5, immediately following the IPL season, and will feature eight teams.

In a significant decision, MCA has named Rohit Sharma as the ‘Face of the League’ in recognition of his achievements as the India captain. Additionally, MCA has approved the proposal to name one of the stands at Wankhede Stadium after Rohit Sharma, alongside honoring former BCCI president Sharad Pawar and batting great Ajit Wadekar with stands of their own. These decisions were made during the Association’s Annual General Meeting.
