Sunrisers Hyderabad kicked off their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season with a dominant performance against Rajasthan Royals. Led by Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten century, SRH secured a convincing 44-run victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
The Royals’ lacklustre bowling and uninspired fielding put them on the back foot from the start, as SRH’s power-packed batting lineup took full advantage. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got the home side off to a flying start, with Head’s aggressive half-century and Ishan’s explosive debut century propelling SRH to a daunting total of 287 runs.
Despite a valiant effort from Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel, who both scored rapid half-centuries, the Royals struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Simarjeet Singh, Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, and Adam Zampa all contributed with crucial wickets to secure the win for SRH.
The victory was even more impressive considering the historical trend of the stadium favoring chasing teams. SRH’s strong start to the season showcased their potential and set the tone for what promises to be an exciting IPL campaign.
