Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Ishan Kishan celebrated in a playful manner after his team’s victory over Chennai Super Kings at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, securing their spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs. Kishan’s cheeky celebration, which included a ‘whistle-blowing’ gesture and a dismissive wave towards the home fans, was seen as a taunt to CSK, known for their ‘Whistle Podu’ anthem and loud whistling by fans during matches.

Apart from his antics, Kishan played a crucial role on the field, scoring a match-winning 70 runs off 47 balls to help SRH chase down a target of 181 runs in 19 overs. Heinrich Klaasen’s contribution with 47 runs off 26 balls also proved valuable in the team’s victory.

With this win, SRH secured their playoffs spot and also assisted Gujarat Titans in qualifying for the last-four stage. Royal Challengers Bengaluru had previously secured a spot in the playoffs after defeating Punjab Kings.

CSK is currently in a five-way battle for the remaining playoff spot, with competition from Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have already been eliminated from the tournament.

The match was played on May 19, 2026, and it was a significant moment for SRH as they continue their journey in the IPL playoffs.
