Rovman Powell, the all-rounder for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), expressed his disappointment in his team’s three-wicket loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Eden Gardens. Powell credited young player Mukul Choudhary for his sensational 27-ball 54, which he believed was the main reason for KKR’s defeat.

Powell acknowledged the impact of the IPL in turning young Indian players into stars, and he praised Choudhary for his fantastic innings. Despite KKR setting a target of 181 for four, they were unable to defend it and suffered their fourth consecutive loss, including three at home.

Reflecting on what KKR bowlers could have done differently to contain Choudhary, Powell suggested implementing a wide ball plan earlier in the innings. He emphasized the importance of executing plans under pressure in crucial moments of the game.

Regarding a controversial catch by Digvesh Rathi on the third-man boundary to dismiss Finn Allen, Powell noted that while they believed the umpires should have reviewed the catch, he did not attribute the loss solely to that decision.

The match was played on April 10, 2026, and Powell’s comments highlighted the challenges KKR faced in securing their first win of the season despite putting up a competitive total.
