The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended indefinitely due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, as confirmed by a senior BCCI official to PTI. The decision came after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala was halted midway due to air raid alerts and security concerns in nearby cities.

The BCCI official expressed that it was inappropriate for cricket to continue while the country was facing a state of war. The IPL, originally set to conclude on May 25 in Kolkata, has now been postponed until further notice.

The suspension of the IPL followed India’s retaliatory missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Blackouts were reported in several districts of Punjab and Chandigarh, with air raid alarms and explosion-like sounds heard in Jammu.

The decision to suspend the IPL coincided with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) being moved to the UAE, reflecting the broader regional instability. With the uncertainty surrounding the return of peace, the future of the IPL season remains uncertain.
