IPL chairman Arun Dhumal addressed speculation about potential investments from Saudi Arabia in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhumal clarified that no formal proposals have been received from the Gulf nation. Despite Saudi Arabia’s growing interest in cricket and sponsorship agreements with IPL and its franchises, Dhumal stated that there have been no discussions regarding direct investment or the establishment of a ‘Grand Slam’ T20 circuit. He emphasized the BCCI’s commitment to promoting cricket globally and showcasing the sport in different territories. While reports suggest Saudi Arabia’s interest in creating a global T20 league, Dhumal made it clear that the IPL is not involved in these plans. The BCCI’s goal is to expose the sport to different landscapes and territories to expand the reach of cricket worldwide.
