Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis’ partnership of 109 runs off 59 balls guided Punjab Kings to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in Jaipur, securing their spot in Qualifier 1. Arya’s aggressive innings of 62 runs off 35 balls, supported by Inglis’ 73 off 42 balls, propelled Punjab to chase down the target of 185 with nine balls to spare.
Despite a slow start due to MI’s strong new-ball bowling, Arya and Prabhsimran Singh managed to stabilize the innings before Arya took charge and unleashed boundaries all over the ground. Inglis joined in the attack, ensuring Punjab’s momentum continued even after Mitchell Santner dismissed both half-centurions in his second spell.
Earlier, Ryan Rickelton provided a quick start for MI, but Marco Jansen’s dismissal halted their progress. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya tried to accelerate the scoring, but Vyshak’s tight bowling and Arshdeep’s late strikes restricted MI to 184 runs.
Despite Suryakumar’s record-breaking season, Punjab’s strong batting display led by Arya and Inglis proved too much for MI to defend. The victory sealed Punjab Kings’ place in Qualifier 1 and showcased their strong form heading into the playoffs.
