The Indian women’s cricket team faced setbacks as Kashvee Gautam and Amanjot Kaur were ruled out of the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup due to injuries. Kashvee, who was initially brought in as a replacement for Amanjot, suffered a serious right knee injury and will require surgery. Amanjot, on the other hand, will be out of action for four to five months.

In their absence, the selectors have called up experienced player Yastika Bhatia, uncapped fast bowler Nandani Sharma, and Radha Yadav for the tournament in England. The decision was made based on Yastika’s experience and ability to contribute in both batting and wicket-keeping roles.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur acknowledged the team’s struggles in the PowerPlay during their recent tour to South Africa and emphasized the importance of performing well in this phase of the game. The team will focus on improving their PowerPlay performances during the upcoming preparatory camp in Bengaluru before heading to England on May 22.

The squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup includes Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, and others. The team is determined to make a strong comeback and perform well in the tournament. The tournament is scheduled to take place in June-July 2026.
