The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction is fast approaching, and Karnataka all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham has made headlines by stating that he does not want to be picked by Punjab Kings. The 36-year-old revealed that he had a negative experience during his brief stint with the franchise in the 2020 season, where he only played two matches after being bought for INR 6.20 crore.

In an interview, Gowtham expressed his reluctance to give his best for Punjab Kings, citing personal reasons beyond just cricket. He emphasized that he always gives more than 100% on the field for any team he plays for, but he would not be able to do the same if picked by the Punjab-based franchise.

Gowtham, who has played 36 IPL matches and taken 21 wickets at an economy rate of 8.24, has also scored 247 runs with an impressive strike rate of 166.89. He has represented teams like Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants in the past.

As the mega auction approaches, Punjab Kings have the largest purse of INR 110.50 crore, having retained only two uncapped players. With 577 players set to go under the hammer, Gowtham’s declaration adds an interesting twist to the upcoming auction proceedings.

Overall, Gowtham’s bold statement against being picked by Punjab Kings has sparked intrigue and speculation as cricket fans eagerly await the outcome of the IPL mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
