After suffering a tough loss to Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals’ skipper Axar Patel admitted that their chances of making the playoffs in IPL 2026 were slim. He stated that the remaining three league games would be used to give opportunities to newer players, with all-rounder Madhav Tiwari being one of the beneficiaries.
The 22-year-old from Madhya Pradesh has made the most of his chances in DC’s recent matches. He impressed with his bowling, picking up two wickets each against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Tiwari also showed his batting skills with a quick 18 off 14 balls in a successful chase against Rajasthan Royals.
Despite making his IPL debut last year, Madhav is yet to feature for his State team at the senior level. He caught the eye of the Capitals while playing for the Bhopal Leopards in the Madhya Pradesh T20 League in 2024. Head coach Hemang Badani praised Madhav’s ability to handle pressure and contribute with both bat and ball.
Madhav credits former India batter Amay Khurasiya for honing his cricketing skills at his academy in Indore since he was 12 years old. Khurasiya revealed that Madhav initially preferred batting over bowling, but eventually embraced the importance of developing both skills in the game.
Despite his lack of experience at the senior level, Madhav Tiwari has made a strong impression in the IPL and has the potential to become a key player for Delhi Capitals in the future.
