During the IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, both captains Axar Patel and Ajinkya Rahane suffered injuries. Axar injured his hand while fielding at midwicket in the 18th over but managed to return to bat and score 43 runs in his team’s loss to Knight Riders. He mentioned that he had peeled off some skin on his palm while fielding but hoped to recover in time for the next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rahane, on the other hand, suffered a blow to his hand while fielding at short cover and had to leave the field with a heavily bandaged hand. It was revealed that he had a couple of stitches and would be assessed by the medical staff the following day. Knight Riders’ all-rounder Anukul Roy mentioned that Rahane’s injury should heal in two to three days.

In the ongoing tournament, Knight Riders are set to face Rajasthan Royals on May 4 at the Eden Gardens. The win against Delhi Capitals helped them stay in the race for the Playoffs as they currently sit seventh in the points table with nine points from 10 matches. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, are in fourth place with six wins out of 10 matches. Both teams will be closely monitoring the recovery of their injured captains as they continue their campaign in the IPL.
