KL Rahul acknowledges that his T20 International career has not always gone as planned, but he is proud of breaking the perception of him being a Test specialist. Despite not playing a T20 for India since 2022, the 34-year-old showcased his growth in the shortest format by smashing a record-breaking 152 not out in the IPL for Delhi Capitals. Speaking on the ‘Superstars’ show, Rahul expressed his pride in the progress he has made over the last decade.

He admitted that he was not initially considered a good white-ball player and was labeled as a Test specialist. However, through hard work and dedication, he has developed his white-ball game and come a long way. Rahul emphasized the importance of giving his best every time he plays and preparing well for success, even when things don’t go his way.

Fatherhood has also played a significant role in Rahul’s life, as he welcomed a baby girl with his wife Athiya Shetty last year. The new role has brought him immense joy and peace, which has positively impacted his cricket. He no longer overthinks the game and approaches it with excitement and a focus on doing his best.

Rahul remains optimistic about his future in cricket, aiming to win more trophies. He credits fatherhood for bringing him happiness and a new perspective, allowing him to enjoy the game and give his all on the field. Published on May 05, 2026.
