Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a 38-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League 2025, thanks to an impressive 87-run opening partnership between Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Gill’s quick wrist work was evident as he confidently took on bowlers like Mohammed Shami and Pat Cummins, showcasing his cover drive skills. Sudharsan complemented Gill’s performance by finding boundaries through gaps in the field, particularly impressing with four consecutive fours off Shami.
Their partnership laid a solid foundation for GT, allowing Jos Buttler to come in and accelerate the scoring with a quickfire 64 off just 37 balls. Buttler’s aggressive approach helped maintain the momentum as he showcased his signature ramp shot for a six off Shami.
However, the partnership was broken after the PowerPlay when Sudharsan was dismissed by leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari, and Gill was run out due to a sharp throw from Harshal Patel. Despite these setbacks, Buttler ensured that GT posted a competitive total.
In response, Abhishek Sharma put up a valiant effort for SRH with a fiery 74 off 41 balls, but his efforts were not enough to secure a win as he lacked support from his teammates. Ishant Sharma’s injury in the 20th over added to SRH’s woes, as GT emerged victorious in the end. Overall, it was an exciting match that showcased the talent and determination of both teams.
