During his knock of 84 off 44 balls, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill twisted his ankle but continued his innings to lead his team to a 77-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Despite the discomfort in his left foot, Gill was able to set a massive 230-run target for the Royals and reached his fourth IPL fifty of the season.
Gill’s 118-run opening partnership with Sudharsan (55 off 36 balls) laid the foundation for Gujarat’s victory. Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for 152 in 16.3 overs, with Rashid Khan taking four wickets for 33 runs and Jason Holder picking up three wickets for 12 runs.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Gill revealed that he twisted his ankle while taking a run but the pain settled down after some time. He expressed his happiness for the win and looked forward to the next game at home, hoping for another good match.
Gill described the match as near perfect for his team, which moved up to second place in the points table after the victory. He noted that it was the first time they had a clean win this season and expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance.
The match was played on May 10, 2026.
