The Bengaluru police recently registered a case after the wife of a senior IPS officer alleged that her two children were harassed during an IPL match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 3. Nitu Thakur filed a complaint stating that her 22-year-old son and 26-year-old daughter were verbally abused and her daughter was inappropriately touched by two men in the Diamond Box enclosure of the stadium. The Cubbon Park police have booked the accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those related to sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult. One of the accused is reported to be a senior officer in the Income Tax department. Following RCB’s victory, Bengaluru erupted in celebration with fans flooding the streets in red and black, chanting slogans and waving flags. The post-match celebration saw an electric atmosphere with the RCB team bus surrounded by excited fans. The police faced the challenge of dispersing the jubilant supporters well into the night.
