In a high-scoring match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), RCB emerged victorious by just two runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Despite Ayush Mhatre’s 94 and Ravindra Jadeja’s unbeaten 77, CSK fell short in their chase of 214 runs. This defeat marked CSK’s ninth loss of the season, keeping them at the bottom of the table. On the other hand, RCB reclaimed the top spot with three games in hand, putting them in a strong position for the playoffs.
During the match, CSK captain MS Dhoni was visibly frustrated with Khaleel Ahmed’s fielding position. After making changes to the field, Dhoni scolded Khaleel for not being in the right place, questioning his fielding abilities. Khaleel had a tough day on the field, conceding 32 runs in his first two overs and then being hit for 33 runs in one over by Romario Shepherd. Despite criticism of Dhoni’s decision to persist with Khaleel, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming defended the bowler’s performance and hinted at exploring other options in the remaining games of the season.
