South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi was hospitalized after sustaining a head injury during an IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. The incident occurred when Ngidi attempted to catch a lofted drive but fell awkwardly, hitting his head on the outfield. Play was halted for 14 minutes as medical staff attended to him on the field before he was stretchered off and taken to BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital. Ngidi reported blurred vision and a headache but a CT scan ruled out spinal injury. He is stable and set to be discharged soon, according to an IPL statement. Delhi Traffic Police created a Green Corridor for the ambulance to ensure quick transportation to the hospital. Ngidi’s teammates and coaches showed concern, with a concussion substitute being brought in for him. The incident left the crowd in silence, but Ngidi’s condition is said to be not serious. The match continued with necessary arrangements made for Ngidi’s replacement on the field.
