The Delhi Capitals Cricket Academy, co-owned by JSW-GMR, has expanded its reach internationally by establishing a new centre in Seattle, USA. This new academy will follow the coaching curriculum and technical framework of the Delhi Capitals, focusing on structured training, performance tracking, and long-term player development.

Partnering with the Seattle Thunderbolts Academy, an established cricket organization in the US, the Delhi Capitals Academy aims to provide training and support to over 200 young cricketers in the Pacific Northwest region. The Thunderbolts Academy, which started as a Minor League Cricket team and won the championship in 2022, manages six cricket grounds with turf wickets for regular training and competition.

This partnership is part of the Delhi Capitals’ efforts to create a connected global network for players and coaches, offering access to training camps, exposure opportunities, and knowledge exchange. Sunil Gupta, CEO of Delhi Capitals, emphasized the importance of building a strong global development ecosystem to support young cricketers in reaching their highest potential.

Phani Chitneni, co-owner of the Seattle Thunderbolts Academy, highlighted the significance of expanding the Delhi Capitals Academy beyond India into one of the fastest-growing cricket markets in the world. With existing academies in key locations in India and overseas, including London and Ontario, the Delhi Capitals continue to strengthen their presence and provide opportunities for aspiring cricketers worldwide.

The addition of Thunderbolts Cricket Academy in Seattle marks a strategic move to establish a strong grassroots presence in the US, showcasing quality infrastructure, community engagement, and experienced partners in developing cricket at the grassroots level. Published on May 14, 2026.
