Danish Malewar, a talented batter from Vidarbha, is all set to make his debut for Mumbai Indians in their match against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The 22-year-old was picked up by Mumbai Indians for his base price of Rs. 30 lakh at the 2026 IPL auction.

Malewar, who is known for his top-order batting skills, had an impressive performance in the 2024-25 edition of the Ranji Trophy, scoring 783 runs in nine matches at an average of 52. This included two centuries and six half-centuries. Hailing from Nagpur, Malewar has been a standout performer for Vidarbha in the domestic circuit.

With Mumbai Indians’ regular opener Rohit Sharma still recovering from an injury, Malewar is expected to open the batting alongside Quinton de Kock in the upcoming match. Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl first, giving Malewar the opportunity to showcase his talent at the top of the order.
