Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad explained that he made the decision to bat lower down the order in order to provide more balance to the team. Instead, Rahul Tripathi opened the innings but did not perform well. Gaikwad, batting at number three, along with Rachin Ravindra, scored impressive half-centuries to lead CSK to a four-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians.

Gaikwad expressed his satisfaction with changing his position for the benefit of the team. He also praised the spinners, especially debutant Noor Ahmad, who took four wickets. Gaikwad mentioned that the team was excited about the spinners bowling in tandem at Chepauk and highlighted the experience of Khaleel and the X factor that Noor brings to the team.

Regarding MS Dhoni, Gaikwad mentioned that the former captain is looking fitter and younger this year. Mumbai Indians stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav acknowledged that his team was slightly short in their total but praised the effort shown by the players. He specifically mentioned IPL debutant Vignesh Puthur, who took three wickets and impressed with his performance.

Suryakumar predicted a bright future for Puthur and mentioned that the decision to give him the 18th over was a no-brainer. He also praised Gaikwad’s batting in the second innings, stating that it took the game away from Mumbai Indians. Overall, both captains were pleased with their team’s performances and highlighted the contributions of key players in the match.
