In a surprising turn of events, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed to defeat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in the IPL 2025 edition. CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad downplayed the loss, mentioning that they didn’t lose by a big margin, just “50 runs.” Despite a lackluster batting performance by CSK, Gaikwad remained positive, stating that the Chepauk pitch became slower and sticky in the second innings, making batting challenging.
Gaikwad expressed his belief that 170 was a par score on that wicket and emphasized the importance of adapting to the conditions while batting. Former captain MS Dhoni coming in to bat at No.9 raised eyebrows, but he managed to score 30 off 16 balls in a lost cause. RCB posted 196/7 with standout performances from Phil Salt, Rajat Patidar, and Tim David. Gaikwad acknowledged the need for improvement in the fielding department and urged his team to come back stronger in their upcoming matches.
