Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered a major blow to their IPL 2026 title defense as young batting sensation Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a significant left hamstring injury. The 18-year-old sustained the injury during a crucial match against Sunrisers Hyderabad and will require a rehabilitation period of 6 to 12 weeks.
Mhatre, who has been a key player in the CSK top order, had shown great promise this season with impressive performances. His absence will leave a void in the team’s lineup, as he had been instrumental in their aggressive batting strategy. With Mhatre out, CSK will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the gap.
Currently, CSK is placed at the eighth position in the IPL 2026 points table with two wins from six matches. The team is yet to announce a replacement for Mhatre, and his absence will undoubtedly be felt as they continue their campaign in the tournament. We wish Ayush Mhatre a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the field soon.
