Chennai Super Kings faced a tough challenge after Lucknow Super Giants posted a formidable total of 203 for eight at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 10. In order to keep their playoff hopes alive, CSK would need to successfully chase a score of 180 or more for the first time in eight years.

The last time CSK managed to chase down a target of 180 or above was back in 2018, when they chased down Sunrisers Hyderabad’s 180-run total in Pune with an over to spare. Some of CSK’s highest successful chases include chasing down a 206-run target against RCB in both Chennai and Bengaluru in 2012 and 2018 respectively, as well as chasing down a 203-run target against KKR in Chennai in 2018.

Other notable successful chases by CSK include chasing down a 193-run target against Punjab in Dharamsala in 2010 and a 186-run target against Delhi in Delhi in the same year.

The upcoming chase against Lucknow Super Giants would be a crucial one for CSK as they look to break their streak of not successfully chasing a target of 180 or more in recent years. The team will need to put up a strong batting performance to achieve this milestone and keep their hopes of making it to the playoffs alive.
