During the upcoming match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals, four players will be making their debut for CSK. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad confirmed that Sanju Samson, Kartik Sharma, Matt Henry, and Matt Short will be part of the playing XI.
While it was anticipated that Samson, Sharma, and Henry would make their first appearance for the team, the inclusion of Matt Short was due to multiple injuries within the CSK camp. Dewald Brevis, a South African player who was supposed to bat in the middle order, has been ruled out of the game due to a side strain. As a result, Short will take his place in the playing XI against RR. Additionally, Short also provides off-spin bowling options, which will strengthen CSK’s spin bowling attack.
Prashant Veer and Sarfaraz Khan have been designated as impact substitutes for the match. It is unlikely that either of them will feature unless CSK faces a batting collapse during the game.
The match is scheduled to take place on March 30, 2026. This debut for the new players will add an element of excitement and anticipation to the game, as CSK looks to put on a strong performance against Rajasthan Royals.
