Fans have been speculating about MS Dhoni’s role in the Chennai Super Kings setup for IPL 2026, with the veteran player already 44 years old. Despite the arrival of Sanju Samson, who can also keep wickets, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that Dhoni will be an active player in the upcoming season and will feature in all matches. Dhoni has been training in Chennai since early March, after starting his preparations in Ranchi last month. Although he is no longer the captain, Dhoni’s experience is still valuable for the team, having led CSK to multiple IPL victories in the past. Along with retaining several players and trading for Samson, CSK also made significant investments during the auction for uncapped players and international stars. Viswanathan mentioned that the decision on Dhoni’s role as an Impact Player will be made by the cricketing staff, based on his form and performance.
