In a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Bhuvneshwar Kumar reached a significant milestone by becoming the second bowler to take 200 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During CSK’s chase of 251 runs, Bhuvneshwar dismissed Ayush Mhatre in the second over to achieve this feat. The only other bowler to reach the 200-wicket mark in the IPL is leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, currently playing for Punjab Kings.

Apart from his IPL success, Bhuvneshwar has also taken 90 wickets in T20 Internationals for India, placing him seventh on the list of Indian bowlers with the most international wickets in this format. Throughout his IPL career, Bhuvneshwar has played for Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and now Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The list of bowlers with the most wickets in IPL history includes Yuzvendra Chahal at the top with 224 wickets in 176 matches, followed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 200 wickets in 192 matches. Other notable bowlers on the list are Sunil Narine with 193 wickets, Piyush Chawla with 192 wickets, and R. Ashwin with 187 wickets.

This milestone achievement by Bhuvneshwar Kumar adds to his impressive record in the IPL and further solidifies his reputation as one of the best bowlers in the tournament’s history. The match took place on April 5, 2026.
