Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag was fined 25 per cent of his match fee by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for vaping during the IPL 2026 game against Punjab Kings. He also received one demerit point for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct. The BCCI is considering taking stringent action against the Rajasthan Royals team as well to protect the reputation of the IPL.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that they are exploring options for further action against the team, its officials, and players. Parag’s vaping incident was caught on camera and sparked criticism on social media. The on-field umpires reported the incident to the match referee after being made aware of the clip, leading to Parag being found guilty of a Code of Conduct breach.
This incident follows another breach by Rajasthan team manager Romi Bhinder, who was fined INR 1 lakh for using his mobile phone in the dugout during a previous IPL game. Bhinder apologized for the offence, claiming it was inadvertent. The BCCI is taking these breaches seriously to uphold the integrity of the IPL.
