The BCCI is currently reviewing the terms and conditions before taking further action against teams that violate IPL protocols. This decision comes after an incident where Riyan Parag, the captain of Rajasthan Royals, was caught vaping in the dressing room during a match against Punjab Kings. Parag was fined 25% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct, which is classified as a Level 1 offense.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that they are considering different options on how to handle teams that do not adhere to the norms. He emphasized the importance of teams maintaining decorum to uphold the image of the IPL. The Board has not received any communication from Punjab Police regarding the Parag incident. Vaping is prohibited in India under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act 2019.

This incident was the second protocol breach for Rajasthan Royals this season, following a case where the team manager was fined for using a mobile phone in the dugout. The BCCI will decide on the venues for the IPL playoffs and final in the next few days. They will also review the Impact Player rule after the tournament concludes.

Regarding India’s upcoming schedule, Saikia mentioned that they have a packed schedule with a series against Afghanistan and a tour of England after the IPL. The decision on whether India will travel to Bangladesh later this year remains uncertain. The BCCI will consider the remaining part of the season once the current commitments are fulfilled.
