Following the uproar on social media, the BCCI took disciplinary action, fining David 30% of his match fees and assigning two demerit points for breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct. This was David’s second offense this season, with the first being a fine and one demerit point for disobeying an umpire’s instruction during a previous game against Mumbai Indians.
