The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Devajit Saikia, recently explained the reasons behind the relocation of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad. Saikia disclosed that the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) had requested a significantly higher number of complimentary tickets for the event, exceeding the permissible quota of 15%. This led to the decision to move the final to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The IPL 2026 final is scheduled for May 31, with Qualifier 1 in Dharamsala, and the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 in Mullanpur. The KSCA’s request for additional tickets for members, clubs, MLAs, and the government of Karnataka, totaling around 10,000 tickets, was a major factor in the decision. Despite the disappointment expressed by the KSCA, the BCCI stood firm on its protocol regarding complimentary ticket allocations. The Qualifier 1 will take place on May 26, followed by the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 on May 27 and May 29, respectively.
