Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, recently made headlines by scoring a century on his Ranji Trophy debut and getting married at the age of 26, similar to his father who married at 22. Arjun is now gearing up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Lucknow Super Giants after being picked at the auction for ₹30 lakh. During a training camp, Arjun shared with captain Rishabh Pant that he uses a bat weighing 1220 grams, much heavier than Pant’s bat. This revelation surprised Pant, but Arjun explained that he prefers the heavier bat for its power and control.
The use of a heavy bat runs in the Tendulkar family, as Sachin also preferred a heavier bat throughout his career for better timing and precision. In his autobiography, Sachin mentioned that he never liked using a lighter bat as the weight was essential for generating power in his shots. He believed that the bat should be an extension of the arm, and as long as he was comfortable with it, there was no need for technical adjustments. The Tendulkars’ preference for heavier bats showcases their unique batting style and approach to the game.
