During the IPL season-opener between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on March 29, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane suffered a foot injury that forced him to leave the field. Rahane was seen clutching his foot before the start of the 5th over, and after receiving treatment from the physios, he had to walk off the field.

In Rahane’s absence, vice-captain Rinku Singh took over as the on-field skipper. Earlier in the day, Rahane had been in fine form, scoring 67 off 40 balls with three fours and five sixes on his domestic home ground. This helped KKR post a competitive total of 220 for four in their 20 overs.

The injury to Rahane was a setback for KKR as he was one of their key players and a vital part of their batting lineup. His absence meant that the team had to rely on other players to step up and fill the void left by their captain.

Despite the injury to Rahane, KKR put up a strong performance in the match and managed to secure a victory over Mumbai Indians. The team showed resilience and determination in the face of adversity, showcasing their depth and ability to adapt to challenging situations.
