Chennai Super Kings’ recent loss to Gujarat Titans has officially eliminated them from the IPL 2026 Playoffs contention, making them the third team to be knocked out. With their defeat, they finish the season with 12 points, falling short of Rajasthan Royals who secured the fourth spot with 14 points.
The Playoffs race now includes Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Capitals vying for the remaining spots alongside Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Rajasthan Royals have the simplest path to qualification, needing a win against Mumbai Indians in their final match to secure a spot in the final four. Punjab Kings, despite a losing streak, still have a chance to qualify by winning their last match and maintaining a better Net Run Rate than Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, need both RR and PBKS to lose, and they must win their final match to advance.
Delhi Capitals, with 12 points, are on the brink of elimination and would need a miraculous turn of events to qualify for the Playoffs. With their remaining fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders, their chances are slim.
The remaining fixtures for each team will determine their fate, with the competition heating up as the Playoffs draw near.
