The BCCI recently implemented new rules regarding the amount of time players’ families can spend with them on overseas tours, following comments made by Virat Kohli. Despite India’s recent Champions Trophy success, the heavy loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy prompted this change. Yuvraj Singh’s wife, Hazel Keech, supported the new rules, stating that it benefits both the team and the players. She highlighted how being apart for extended periods affected Yuvraj’s focus during matches.
While Yuvraj has admitted to getting distracted when a former partner unexpectedly attended a match, Kohli shared a different perspective. He expressed how having family around brings normalcy and helps players fulfill their responsibilities on the field. Despite Kohli’s occasional prioritization of family over the Indian team, tensions with the BCCI over the family rule are temporarily set aside as focus shifts to the IPL. Kohli is expected to play in the opening game of the 2025 season for RCB against KKR at the Eden Gardens.
