Indian Premier League (IPL) team Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s fast bowler Yash Dayal has been accused of raping a minor, as per an FIR filed against him by the Jaipur Police. The 27-year-old cricketer from Uttar Pradesh is already facing charges of sexual exploitation by a woman in Ghaziabad who claims Dayal abused her over a five-year relationship, promising to marry her.
The SHO of Jaipur’s Sanganer Sadar police station, Anil Jaiman, stated that the latest FIR was lodged on Wednesday, accusing Dayal of rape under relevant sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) act and the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). The victim alleges that Dayal first raped her in 2023 when she was 17, and a similar incident occurred in April this year at a hotel in the Sitapura area.
The victim claimed that Dayal had promised to help and support her career. He contacted her in April when he was in Jaipur for the IPL and allegedly raped her at a hotel. The matter is currently under investigation.
Dayal, a medium pacer, is a well-known bowler in the Indian domestic circuit, having debuted for Uttar Pradesh in 2018 and playing 27 First-Class games, taking 84 wickets. He has also featured in 71 T20 matches, claiming 66 wickets. Dayal began his IPL career with Gujarat Titans in 2022 before joining RCB, who acquired him for Rs. 5 crore in the 2024 players’ auction. He was retained by RCB for the current season and played a crucial role in their championship-winning campaign under Rajat Patidar. Dayal has not commented on either of the allegations.
