Virat Kohli has retired from T20I and Test cricket and is set to turn 37 during IPL 2026. Swastik Chikara, who played with Kohli at RCB in IPL 2025, revealed in an interview that Kohli plans to continue his IPL career as long as he remains fit to play T20 cricket. Kohli expressed his intention to not play as an Impact Player and to continue playing like a lion until the day he feels he needs to retire from cricket. Despite retiring from international T20Is and Tests, Kohli aims to play ODIs until the 2027 World Cup. In the previous IPL season, Kohli was in top form, scoring 657 runs in 15 matches and leading RCB to their maiden IPL title. He has not retired from the IPL yet and has shown eagerness to continue playing for RCB. Kohli has also voiced his opposition to the Impact Player rule, believing it disrupts the balance between batting and bowling. His dedication to the game and desire to excel in the IPL showcase his passion for cricket even as he approaches his late thirties.
