Virat Kohli once again showcased his chasing prowess as he led Royal Challengers Bangalore to a convincing victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL opener. Kohli’s unbeaten half-century, crafted with precision in a 36-ball knock, played a crucial role in RCB’s successful chase of 175 runs. His 30-ball fifty, including three sixes and four fours, ensured a smooth victory for the team in just 16.2 overs.
After the match, Dinesh Karthik, RCB’s batting coach, praised Kohli for his performance and also teased him about his dance with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan during the opening ceremony. Karthik commended Kohli’s ability to pace the innings and emphasized the importance of learning from his approach in a run-chase.
In addition to Kohli’s stellar performance, England’s Phil Salt made an impactful debut for RCB with a quickfire 56 off 31 balls. KKR’s below-par total of 174/8 was easily chased down by RCB, with Kohli leading the charge. Krunal Pandya’s 3/29 had briefly troubled RCB, but Kohli’s masterclass ensured a comfortable win for the team.
