Virat Kohli achieved another milestone in his illustrious T20 career by becoming the first Indian batter to score 13,000 runs in T20 cricket during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. Kohli reached the milestone with 17 runs in the first innings, making him only the fifth player in cricket history to achieve this feat. He also became the second-fastest player to reach 13,000 T20 runs, achieving it in his 386th innings, just behind Chris Gayle who did it in 381 innings.
Apart from his T20 success, Kohli has had a decorated career with numerous achievements including being part of India’s 2025 Champions Trophy-winning squad and winning multiple ICC awards. He announced his retirement from T20Is after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup where he was named Player of the Match in the final. Despite his individual accomplishments, Kohli has not been able to lead Royal Challengers Bangalore to an IPL title and has passed on the captaincy role to Rajat Patidar after Faf du Plessis’ departure.
