Sunrisers Hyderabad has appointed Varun Aaron as their new bowling coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. Aaron will be taking over from James Franklin, who served as the fast bowling coach for SRH in IPL 2025.

Varun Aaron, a former Indian quick, last played in the IPL in 2022 for Gujarat Titans. Throughout his IPL career, which spanned across five teams including Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Rajasthan Royals, and Punjab Kings, Aaron played a total of 52 matches and claimed 44 wickets at an economy rate of 8.93. In T20 cricket overall, Aaron has taken 93 wickets in 95 matches.

Having represented India in 18 matches across ODIs and Tests, Aaron brings a wealth of experience to his new role with Sunrisers Hyderabad. He last played for his domestic team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy during the 2024-25 season earlier this year.

In the previous IPL season, Aaron was seen in a different role as a commentator for the official broadcaster. His transition to a coaching role with SRH showcases his commitment to the development of young bowlers and his passion for the game of cricket.

With Varun Aaron’s expertise and experience, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking to strengthen their bowling department and improve their performance in the upcoming IPL season.
